The Liberals didn't do enough on Kyoto???

I'm not so sure that's a fair criticism anymore.

It seem to me the Liberals have convinced the Conservative Party of Canada to do such a 180 on environmental policy that the Tories are now running ads attacking another party for not doing enough to live up to our Kyoto Protocol obligations!!!

Let me write that again. The TORIES are attacking another political party for not doing enough to live up to our obligations under KYOTO!!!

What do people want, MIRACLES???

I eagerly await the new Tory ad attacking the Liberals for stalling on the decriminalization of marijuana. They had 13 years to do it people! I'm sure the Tories will want to point out this similar failure. (and it's too bad same-sex marriage is now legal... I would have loved to see the Tory ad attacking the Liberals for for stalling on THAT!!!).

Canada's New Government: Attacking the Liberals for failing to do things they didn't want done in the first place, since 2007.

"It is not sufficient to simply believe in something. One has to actually do something about it to prove that one is serious." - Stephen Harper

So the Liberals, who believed in but did little about climate change, are worse than the Conservatives, who didn't believe in the first place.

I suppose their argument is that it is better to be ignorant than ineffectual.

It is pretty ironic that the Tories are attacking the Liberals on Kyoto and on the environment generally.

But it's even sadder that they have a point. The Liberals, who said they believed, essentially did nothing.

I should say that I totally agree that they have a point. I also think it's possible, given the sudden importance of the environment to the electorate, that the Stephen Harper minority will end up doing more for the environment than a Paul Martin Liberal minority would have (though I don't believe they'll do more than Dion would, were he given a chance).

I do love the irony though.

Can't wait for the Tory ad attacking the Liberals for not implementing a nationally-regulated institutional child care program.

That'll be a fun ad to watch!

Totally unrelated, but I just wanted to let you know that was a BRILLIANT comment on Joanne's blog today regarding Harper's stunt yesterday in the House. Bravo!

Let's give the Conservatives 13 years in power, and then the Liberals can return the favour.
